Nawaz, Slabaugh: Global Analysis of Haustral Fold Ridges
نویسندگان
چکیده
Haustral folds are a major source of false positives (FPs) in the Computer Aided Detection (CAD) of colorectal lesions. In this paper, a novel bottom-up data-driven approach is presented to globally analyze haustral folds. Unlike the earlier haustral fold detection methods that rely solely on local differential geometric computations, which can be unreliable, particularly for thicker folds, our method builds a global model of the fold ridge to characterize the fold on a much larger scale. We propose a novel geometric feature, the density of ridge candidates (DRC), to remove CAD false positives. The method is tested on a dataset of 333 CAD marks detected using a state-of-the-art CAD system [7] on a data from 34 patients, and a significant FP reduction of 14.13% is achieved while maintaining 100% sensitivity.

A bottom-up approach for the analysis of haustral fold ridges in CTC-CAD
Computer Aided Detection (CAD) systems assist radiologists in the detection of colorectal lesions. The performance of CAD systems, however, suffers due to the presence of false positives (FPs) which are introduced by various sources. One of the main sources of FPs in CAD systems is haustral folds. This paper presents a new bottom-up datadriven method to analyse and detect haustral folds. The ex...

CT colonography is routinely performed with the patient prone and supine to differentiate fixed colonic pathology from mobile faecal residue. We propose a novel method to automatically establish correspondence. Haustral folds are detected using a graph cut method applied to a surface curvature-based metric, where image patches are generated using endoluminal CT colonography surface rendering. T...

متن کاملProne to Supine CT Colonography Registration Using a Landmark and Intensity Composite Method
Matching corresponding location between prone and supine acquisitions for CT colonography (CTC) is essential to verify the existence of a polyp, which can be a difficult task due to the considerable deformations that will often occur to the colon during repositioning of the patient. This can induce error and increase interpretation time. We propose a novel method to automatically establish corr...
